Coogee

Ocean views abound from this Coogee hillside home and each room in it captures different framed views of the vast ocean and coastline.  The two high roofed timber clad living elements reach out to the ocean from their secure masonry base and connect the rear garden to the ocean beyond.  The northern living area opens to the east facing ocean deck and back to the rear garden, whereas the introverted southern living spaces open to the sheltered garden at one end and arrive at a cozy ocean facing window seat at the other.  The roof’s stepped nature allows for high-level solar access deep into the building.  The walls of the house extend into a series of retaining walls, which sculpt and contain the natural surroundings and the dramatic planting.
