About Us

Following their study at the University of NSW, Dave Melocco and Phil Moore went on to work for a number of different architectural and engineering firms in Sydney. As their individual careers developed, both Dave and Phil found they shared a strong commitment to designing inspiring and appropriate buildings. This commitment grew and Melocco and Moore was launched in 1993.

The strength of Melocco and Moore is based upon each Director’s ability to design individually, while being open to insight and critique from each other and their staff. Dave and Phil individually run alternate projects, however, both remain involved in every project through internal discussions and all aspects of design, detailing and delivery. In this way the client has a clear path for communication, dealing with one Director assisted by one Design Architect.

The success of Sydney Architects Melocco and Moore is also attributed to the maintenance of a limited but commited staff of Chartered Design Architects and a small number of support staff. All aspects of each project are freely discussed and debated by all members of the office, collectively adding to Melocco and Moore’s design strengths.

Melocco and Moore have developed professional relationships with a number of like-minded architectural firms to assist with the delivery of buildings requiring further resources.

Beliefs

We believe that the design solution is found within each client’s brief, each client’s aspirations and is specific to the project. This combined with an interest to research and expand on building types, supports our ability to tackle a wide variety of projects.

We seek to develop relationships with clients who are looking for inspired simple solutions to a variety of problems and opportunities.

We strive to create spaces for clients that are uplifting, nurturing, creative and appropriate and enjoy observing and revelling in the effects these spaces have on people.

We believe that buildings should remain useful after their time and have been awarded and recognised for careful consideration of exsiting build fabric and skilful insertion of new work to supplement old.

We continue to develop our standing as an award winning architecture firm and look forward to maintaining our aim architecture – building with meaning.
